Escape to The Escapist in Chichester

New micro pub The Escapist - Chichester opens in Crane Street Chichester.

If you are looking for a new establishment to drink some craft beers in, then look no further than ‘The Escapist’ in Chichester, West Sussex.

I attended the press event at Chichester’s newest micro pub which is located down Crane Street (the old One Legged Jockey shop) and was really impressed with what the owners Tom and Steve have done to the old place.

This is the third craft beer establishment to open in Chichester, with the Hornet Ale House and Sit and Sip coming before them, but the great thing is that they all offer something different, so the city should be big enough for them all to thrive.

The bar feels very open and airy with the large shop windows letting in loads of light. The bar has enough seating for around 40 people which includes outside seating. There isn’t currently a booking system in place so if you want to avoid disappointment then get there early.

They have a small but impressive (quality wise) selection of draught beers to choose from, such as Little Monster Brewing Co, Greyhound Brewery, Abyss Brewery and Gun Brewery as well as a few cask ales and selection of spirits and non-alcoholic drinks.

Tom informed me that they intend to sell beers from local breweries to highlight the quality we have in the south east, so expect the selection to change fairly frequently.

They aren’t serving food at present but you can choose from a selection of snacks to have with your beers.

The beers are pretty reasonably priced so no complaints from me there.

The next time you are in Chichester, you should definitely check out The Escapist.

Opening hours at the moment are:

Monday & Tuesday = Closed Wednesday & Thursday = 18:00 - 22:30 Friday = 16:00 - 22:30 Saturday = 12:00 - 22:30 Sunday = 12:00 - 18:00
