Brew Review: Chai Latte (Infused Pale Ale) UnBarred Brewery

This is a very unique and interesting chai tea infused pale ale from Brighton based brewery, UnBarred...and it's quite pleasant but it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Appearance: Light amber and hazy. Not much of a white head after pouring, lasts around 10 seconds after pouring.

Aroma: Not much going on, smells a little sour, a bit like spiced apple.

Taste: This really does have an interesting chai taste to it. Not bitter at all, very sweet and a little creamy. Hint of ginger and chai spices such as cinnamon, cardamom and cloves.,

Mouthfeel: Light and smooth,

Ingredients:

Malts: Pale Ale, Flaked Oats, Flaked Wheat, Carapils, Melanoidin

Hops: Cascade

Yeast: New England

Allergens: Gluten, lactose (sorry for those who are lactose intolerant and can't have gluten, this one isn't for you)

ABV: 5%

Rating: 3.50 / 5.00

Overall: I like this pale ale, but I can imagine that it’s not for everyone. Would I drink another one? Probably not, but it's a very interesting beer and I’m glad that I tried it.

It's not hugely like a chai tea and I would know as I only buy chai tea and chai latte's when I get a drink from the coffee shop, but you can definitely find where the inspiration came from.

I purchased this beer from Sit & Sip in Chichester for £5. I don't think the price reflects the quality, but beer production is expensive so I can appreciate why it cost as much as it did.
